Concentrate on Content: Adsense is contextual. So you need to provide good and quality content on a consistent basis. Do not deviate your theme while writing more content.

Blend your ads : Ads should blend with the color of your site and headlines. If ads distracts visitors you will tend to have less CTR and subsequently less earning due smart pricing.

Aware of Smart Pricing: Google adopts a technique called smart pricing. If your CTR on a site is very low smart pricing will affect the ads displayed in the site.
